countdowns.

i have always loved countdowns. not that i like to wish the days away, but there's something exciting about counting down the days to a special day, event or trip. to me, countdowns mean there is something to look forward to, and that something fun and exciting is right around the corner.


mom LOVED counting down to her birthday, usually beginning on november 16th, and definitely in full swing by december 1st. mom, erin, edward and i always used "sleeps" as a unit of our countdowns..."only four more sleeps until erin comes home for break!" however, i don't really use "sleeps" until about a week out of what i'm counting down to.


i am currently counting down, although still far away, a couple of exciting events. the first, a girls' weekend in disney world to run the disney princess half marathon! i have just started getting excited about this event, as i was preoccupied with studying up until now to even think about training. but, now that our plans are falling into place, i couldn't be more excited to count down the days...all 49 of them! there will be 5 of us girls running 13.1 magical miles through EPCOT and the magic kingdom on sunday, february 27th. because i am going for my half marathon PR, i am excited to train (although it's hard with the south bend weather) and get back into shape.


the most exciting countdown, though, is our countdown to the arrival of sweet pea! although we don't know exactly when he/she will make his/her grand entrance, we are all counting down the weeks (11 more to go) until we meet this little baby. most of us are hoping for a march 17th arrival (come on, mom!), although i'm not so sure about that, seeing as erin was late with both boys.
